Default Unable to change/add "Set Regarding" on appointment

    Hi;
    CRM 4:
I have some users who when they try to change or add the "Set Regarding"
field, they get an error saying that "The logged on user, does not have the
appropriate secuirty permissions to view these records or perform the
    specific action." etc.

I have set the accounts as administrator level and sure enough it works.
However, I do not particularly want to allow people such access and therefore
need to know what permission it is I need to assign them.
    Current permissions are:
    CORE:
    Company; Create(None), Read(Org), Write (Org), Delete(None), Append(Org),
    Append To(Org), Assign(User), Share(Org).

    Contact; Create(None), Read(Org), Write (Org), Delete(None), Append(Org),
    Append To(Org), Assign(User), Share(Org).

    Lead: Create(User), Read(Org), Write (None), Delete(None), Append(User),
    Append To(User), Assign(None), Share(None).

    Opportunity; Create(User), Read(Org), Write (User), Delete(None),
    Append(User), Append To(User), Assign(User), Share(Org).

    Activity: Create(Org), Read(Org), Write (Org), Delete(None), Append(Org),
    Append To(Org), Assign(Org), Share(Org).

I'm not sure that any of the other lines are relevant to this issue.
    Thanks in advance for help.
    Kind regards
    -MM

Hi Dave, many thanks for the prompt and accurate response.
They do have the read permission on the User Entity in Business Management.
I went through the kb document and found the error as suggested and it
    points to the prvsearchavailability privilege.
However on the kb document it gives a rather easy example of how to change a
permission but with regards to the one above I have no idea on where to set
    it and on what entity.
    Can you help please?
    Thanks again.
    MM
